The mushroom looks white from the outside with a soft touch that almost resembles a pillow, but once cut into the fungi will ooze a red fluid and expose its bright red flesh. While they may seem off putting these mushrooms actually taste delicious! An earthy, sweet and soft fungi flavour makes this mushroom popular to foraging spirits, these mushrooms can be grilled and used in woks. Pillow flesh mushrooms prefer the cold and can only be found in October, they are a popular autumn find for foragers and are associatd with halloween.
